fourth grade fabulousness

It never occurred to me that teaching fourth grade would bring such happiness to my life. I mean, yeah, I love to teach and I love kids but I never thought I would be eager to grade papers or give a spelling test (haha, go ahead and laugh, but I'm totally serious!) or stay until 8 o'clock at night just to make sure everything was perfectly perfect for my sweet students the following morning.

Along with being obsessed with my class and their personalities and willingness to produce beautiful work, I'm slightly, overly obsessed with my classroom. I mean what teacher isn't?! I can't wait for Fridays just so I can rearrange the desks. Ha, I know, crazy, right?

With that said, here are some recent pictures of my masterpiece. I plan on rearranging every Friday to keep the atmosphere alive and the students guessing. Well, that is, until I run out of configurations. :)

happy blogging, friends!

sixteen days and counting

Since time is ticking and we're just weeks away from school starting, (thank goodness we didn't start when we were supposed to, oh, two days ago) the new fourth grade classroom is coming together quite nicely We have come a looong way and I say we because I can't take any credit for my newly painted classroom.  I have the most wonderful parents and I can't thank them enough for taking the weight off my shoulders with this project!!

So, thank you momma and daddy :)

It is now safe to say that I am happy elated to be teaching fourth grade and with each passing day, it grows more and more.  I'm pretty sure I'm more excited than my students-to-be ;) It is going to be an amazing year!  Did I mention that I was super, super pumped about teaching fourth grade? (because I totally am!)

Please excuse the random findings you see in the pictures below :) we're still in remodeling mode!

she is so crafty

So, this may be a little off topic from fourth grade but I promise I will bring it full circle.

My mom is the most talented individual. Period.  She has the creativity to blow people away. She has the ability to create anything and everything in a matter of hours.  Bottom line, her creations are out of this world.  I know you're eager to see what she is all about sooo STOP where you are and check out her etsy account, Sassy Stitches by Lori.
With all of that said, while I have been enjoying my summer and becoming strangely addicted to Pinterest, (aren't we all? and if you're not, you need to be!) I stumbled across this cute idea and of course, my sweet, talented mother agreed to make it happen for me. :) Now last year, this wouldn't have made it in kindergarten but this year! ooo, I can't wait.  The picture I'm posting is a small sneak preview.  I will post the finished product when it is hanging so beautifully on my classroom wall. :)

We can't take credit for this cutie creation because I found it on Pinterest :) duh.
I know my fourth graders-to-be will love this!

from kinder to fourth

So I've always toyed with the idea of blogging and have actually created a couple blogs and never got around to writing something on them! So here I am :) I'm elated that you chose to check out my page! I'll be updating as often as a second year, fourth grade teacher has time for :)

I taught kindergarten last year (one tough, first year!) and will teach fourth grade this coming year, hence my blog name ;) My first year definitely tested my love for teaching and I was fully confirmed at the end of the year that there is nothing I'd rather do!  I had 19 precious, precious students that I had an extremely hard time letting go.  I know this year will have the same effect on me.  I can't wait to see what teaching fourth grade holds!  Fellow fourth grade teachers...feel free to post any ideas you may have :)

Soo, with switching grades also means switching classrooms. Total bum for a first year teacher to hear after working so diligently to create the most welcoming class for five and six year olds buuuut that only means a clean slate to play with and get creative all over again!

Here are a few pictures of my first year bulletin boards (so upset that I didn't take any pictures of my entire classroom).

Stay tuned to see the newest updates on my new classroom! This is what I'm working with so far...wish me luck :)  (one may realize that this classroom has more than four walls, you're right, it's a hexagon.  I know, fancy right?!)

we've got just a little work to be done (hehe)  but thanks to my super supportive, wonderful, understanding, and helpful family, this won't take thaaat long! ;)
